Ubuntu Problems

There are very likely easy answers to all my problems, but going through
everything I can think of, I can't find them.

One big thing is the size of icons and print on the toolbars. My eyes
haven't been very good since I was six, and now in my sixties, these
tiny little things are a nuisance. I've gone up and down the System
Preference and Admin two or three times, without finding anything,
except where one deal will give me increased size in black and white.
Not what I had in mind.

Also, everything I try to install, either by Synaptic or apt-get
install, ends up with an error message.

I believe this has something to do with my repositories, but I can't
seem to ask the right question on Google.

Conrad, if you're available, I think I need your tech support.
