Say you're using 192.168.1.0/24 right now. The best way is to split
that subnet up (still certain VPN products might have issues...) and
you'll want to double check my subnet numbering.
You'd give the router 192.168.1.1/30 and smoothwall 192.168.1.2/30.
The inside of the smoothwall (NAT must be turned off!) would be the
network 192.168.1.128/25. That way you can still do all your routing
using 192.168.1.0/24.
If you need more address space, or have a more complex network, then
thats another story.
You can put the dhcp on the smoothwall or use a dhcp relay.
