anyone have a little smoothwall experience ? I'd like to try it out on
our network.
Current setup = :
sasktel highspeed internet (142.165.xxx.xxx) -> modem -> 8 port
vpn/firewall/router 142.165.xxx.xxx/192.168.1.1 (acts as a dhcp server,
firewall ) -> several switches:
In addition we have 2 hardware vpns running to remote offices using the
router vpn ability
Desired setup:
Smoothwall not configured to do dhcp or vpn. Router to continue doing
all current activities.
Correct me if i am wrong here, but if i set the smoothwall "outside" of
the router, my vpns would quit, as the smoothwall would be required to
have the sasktel Internet Static IP address on it's red (external) nic,
and a 192.168.xxx.xxx on it's green (internal), thus the router would
have to have a 192.168.xxx.xxx on it's external side also
Thus, i think i would have to set the smoothwall "inside" the network
with it's "red" attached to the inside IP of the router, and a switch
attached to the smoothwall green side, and my current switches attached
to the new switch.
If any of that makes any sense, I could use some advice as to how this
should be set up. I'm hoping to be able to include smoothwall without
making any changes to my existing network setup.
