Following up on my own email from a few months ago, XBMC and it's
various ports have come a long way (with a bit of drama). I'm not
sure if anyone else is interested, but I'll make mention of it just
in-case. More details can be found on www.xbmcbuilder.com or
www.osxbmc.com .

All three ports (OSX, Linux, Win32) have progressed to the point of
having fully functional, high-quality upscaling. 1080i/108p support
in all three, as well as a stable(r) UI. They're all very useable and
functional, and still being developed.

The drama is now that OSXBMC has 'forked' (how technically true that
is, I'm not sure) from XBMC.org. The rumor mill from a summer of code
participant, is that the SOC devs were relying heavily on Elan's
(OSXBMC dev) code from OSXBMC being checked back in. When this didn't
happen, they started trying to strongarm him into doing so by
leveraging the GPL. He dug in his heels, and they forked. Overall it
sounds like it may be beneficial, but it may make OSX the platform of
choice for XBMC for the near future as it's so much more polished.
