If you *must* use MS Office and if you *must* save in one of those two
formats, then always use DOC; its been deciphered enough that you can
convert it to a more open format with a pretty good degree of
fidelity. DOCX is new and does not yet have good convertibility.
A better option in MS Office right now is to install the Sun Plugin
and save in ODF right now, independent of Microsoft :)
