Hello all,
Hopefully there is someone here that can help me with my problem. I
have two computers and would like to vnc from one to the other. Both
are running Xubuntu (XFCE flavour of Ubuntu) 8.04 Hardy Heron. I have
followed the instructions
here for "VNC Server
with Login Screen via GDM" because I would like to treat the vnc
session as a remote login, and log into a separate user account.
However, when I try to log into the vnc server from my other computer,
I am told "Reading version failed: not an RFB server?". Would anyone be
able to tell me what this means and how to fix it?
Alternatively, if I follow the instructions as per "Tightvncserver
Server with Login Screen Via GDM", it works, however this only works to
log into an existing session.
I should note that I did have to install xinetd, perhaps this has been
replaced by something else in Hardy?
