Okay, I'm not totally screwed... After a hard power-off (shutdown didn't
work) I rebooted with the supplied kernel for Gutsy, and sudo now
works. I'm going to try it again with my custom 2.6.24.3 and see if it
breaks sudo again. In the mean time, I have given root a password.
