Have you tried manually setting up the networks by manually editing your /etc/network/interfaces file? Mine looks something like this:

(change wlan0 to your network device, and edit the following lines to correspond to your specific network)

iface wlan0 inet dhcp
        pre-up ifconfig wlan0 up
        pre-up ifconfig wlan0 down
        pre-up ifconfig wlan0 up
        pre-up ifconfig wlan0 down
        pre-up iwconfig wlan0 essid "myssid"
        pre-up iwconfig wlan0 mode Managed
        pre-up iwpriv wlan0 set AuthMode=WPAPSK
        pre-up iwpriv wlan0 set EncrypType=AES
        pre-up iwpriv wlan0 set WPAPSK="A shared key"
        pre-up ifconfig wlan0 up

If by Debian you mean Ubuntu I can help you out. The driver for RT2500 series worked in Ubuntu Feisty, but not in Gutsy. I should say at least the WPA portion of the driver wouldn't work. The iwpriv "set" command was giving me a whole lot of trouble. I ended up having to blacklist the built-in driver, and compile the rt2500 driver (or kernel module or whatever Linux calls them) from source. Worked wonderfully after that.

If you're using Ubuntu Feisty 7.10 I can give you exact instructions of what you need to do to get the card up and running with WPA security.

Hello Linux G33ks,
I just recently switched over to Debian and I need some assistance getting my pci wifi card up and running.
It was working in Mandriva so I assume it should work in Debian. I was wondering if someone could offer me some
assistance on getting it up and running again. I'm doing bridged networking through my macbook so it's online.
Id rather not do that for long though as it's only online when my macbook is at home.

Anyone have any words of wisdom?

Thanks,
Nathan
