file script

Hi:

I'm working on a text file list. I need to add the line number preceeded by
the number symbol at the end of each line with data written on the line -
there needs to be a tab of two spaces seperating the data on the line and the
number entry.

I then need to go through the file and remove all empty lines.

Any suggestions?
