Ubuntu 7.10 Gutsy Gibbon... problems?

Just wondering if anyone else has gone to (or at least tried) 7.10 yet?

Ran the beta on my laptop when it was released without a problem. However,
went to install the public release last weekend and my laptop wouldn't even
boot. Went back to 7.04, updated this weekend through "update-manager -d",
and now my system freezes after about an hour or so and has to be rebooted.
Managed to corrupt a file in my windows/system32 when I first tried the
public release of 7.10, had been hoping to use it to repair that file (since
if I reinstall xp pro I have to reinstall linux as well).

Anyone have any idea WHY ubuntu 7.10 would be freezing my laptop on me?
Have a feeling I'm just going to install debian 4.0 and say goodbye to
ubuntu (and the windows dual boot).

Running on a T30 (p4 2.0ghz, 1024mb PC4200 ram, 100gb HD, 16mb vid) if that
makes any difference.
