Can anyone use a Socket 479 Mobile Pentium 4 Processor?

I removed the processor from my wife's broken laptop: it says on the
top that its a Pentium 4 2.53 GHz, but the catch is that it requires a
Socket 479 motherboard (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Socket_479 or a
regular 478 with an adapter that costs extra) as its apparently
actually a "Mobile Pentium 4" (see
http://www.intel.com/products/processor/mobilepentium4/ Note: as per
wikipedia its different from a "Mobile Pentium 4 M"
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pentium_4).

P.S. Ugh; processor names are so confusing.
