I can see why an ISP would want to block outbound SMTP, mainly as a way
to prevent zombie machines from sending spam. It wouldn't effect most
subscribers and is generally a good thing for the Internet. For those of
us a little higher up the technical ladder that know what we are doing and
have a need, it can be a little frustrating.
