Myself, I use Mandriva for all of my system needs. So, I followed this
very easy, step-by-step tutorial:
http://www.howtoforge.com/perfect_server_mandriva_spring_2007
Mandriva Free can very easily be turned into a wonderful server system.
This tutorial at HowtoForge covers everything you need to do. I took
me less than 45 minutes to get everything installed and set-up.
Mandriva also has some very useful wizards that makes system maintenance
a breeze, but most of the stuff covered in the tutorial deals with
command line stuff... which more experienced sys-admins are comfortable
using.
I'm sure there is something there for Ubuntu users as well, you'll just
have to do a little searching.
