Are you using Feisty?
(System -> About Ubuntu)

Does the printer show up in the normal printers list?
(System -> Administration -> Printing)

If so, right-click it and select Properties and then click on the Connection
tab.
What is the URI?

Direct your browser to http://localhost:631/printers
Does your printer exist on that page?

If it isn't already installed, try installing python-qt3 and then run:
sudo hp-setup
Does it work after that?
