Oh hey, that's a really good idea that hadn't occurred to me.

I could build an autorun CD to silent install VNC, or a USB memory key (??).

BartPE or a similar windows live CD sounds like an equally viable
option. Does BartPE come with VNC automatically enabled and on a
standardized port/password?

RDP would be trickier as the laptop has a base blank XP Pro install
with no admin or user passwords defined (hadn't gotten to that).

The laptop itself does not have a floppy drive (nor do I have a USB
one kicking around) so that's likely not the easiest solution.

Thanks for the suggestions Steven, I'll give a few of them a try
tonight and see what I can come up with.
