I remember having to do that years ago with my soundblaster.

However I don't see a digital/analog setting in kmix or any other
mixer. Kmix has input, output, and switch tabs. The closet setting I
see under switch is "IEC958", which is off.

Now just decided to try all the speaker ports again (front, center,
rear) and now rear is working. The IEC958 setting doesn't seem to
affect this. If I turn off "duplicate front" the rear stop working
but the front don't start working.

Thats good enough for now.
