Based on my personal experience, I'd say the education required is
letting people know how cheap CFLs have become. The very first one I
got (still running behind my furnace) was over $20. A few years ago, I
replaced a bunch of incandescents with $6 CFLs. The other day I noticed
I could buy them at Dollarama! (for those not "in the know", everything
at Dollarama is $1. In my mind, CFLs still cost about $6 until I saw
that.) IMO, THAT's the real story. I figured it out back when they
were $20, and I wasn't sure if it was economically beneficial. (It would
depend highly on how long the bulb lasted.) At $1/bulb, economically,
it's a no-brainer. I'm not sure if giving away free bulbs helps get
across the drastic price drop though.

Now, with all this CFL talk, when can we start talking about the Riders?!?
