So, now that I have Edgy going and it's working roughly the same as
Dapper was, here are the results:
- Faster boot times.
- True type fonts look better (a lot better; I finally had to stop
using an old copy of Mozilla for reading email, and upgrade to
Seamonkey, which looks great!). I had to disable the font smoothing
exclusion sizes, though :)
- Newer software (KDE 3.5.6).
Otherwise it acts very much the same. I know there are a lot of
under-the-hood things that have changed, but it's not all "in your face"
like that Win XP -> Windows Vista upgrade some people are getting. It's
more like the kind of upgrade experience I get on the Mac; newer, better
software that works better!
