Winbind and changing password

I have winbind (windows NT domain) running as expected on edgy, using
samba backported from feisty - the new offline winbind is great.

Now I'd like to be able to change my password. I added
password sufficient pam_winbind.so
to the pam passwd file. Now when I enter my new password at the
passwd prompt, I get an error NT_STATUS_INVALID_DOMAIN_ROLE.

Any ideas as to what the problem might be?
