I'd have to test to be sure it works that way on the GS608, but thats
the idea. The switch should detect that it can't send the large
frame out a port and then send back an ICMP 'fragmentation needed'
message to the originator.

A really smart bridge/switch could also check if the DF bit is not
set, and then fragment the packet on behalf of the originating host.

Its been a while since I've fiddled with this stuff tho.
