I've had no issues in the past year with Linux or OpenBSD only laptops
(no Linux). I even had work stuff on encrypted partitions. Luckily
my laptop was only ever wiped down for bomb residue and nothing more.

If I was that paranoid, I'd probably just let Windows take over the
MBR for travel, then restore with a boot cd or floppy.
You may also try setting in your grub.conf:
timeout 0
hiddenmenu
But with that, I'm not sure if you'll ever be able to break into grub
to get to the menu.
