running a perl-script

I would like to have a name-generator, resident on my machine, for those
days when I can't seem to come up with a good name for a character.

Rather than learning programming and re-inventing the wheel, I went
looking on the net.

I found what looks like the thing at
http://www.ruf.rice.edu/~pound/

It's done in perl. but I can't seem to make it run. Digging through
Google, I got so far as to make it say, when I ran it, 'usage:
lc-namegenerator -[s|#] filename'.

Can anyone out there give me some notions?
