In CMPT at least, we had no problem getting wpa_supplicant to work,
but it failed in establishing a default route.

On Windows and OS X, it sets up a route with a netmask of
255.255.255.255 to the router, and sets that as a default gateway.
Problem is, that default gateway changes depending on where you are
on campus.
