That explains why I completely missed your potentially helpful
suggestion about Seagate drives a couple months ago. I found the
message weeks later, and wondered why I hadn't seen it. Yes, you were
right, it was a Seagate firmware issue. The sad, sad web support guys
were much less than helpful. Finally a phone call to 3-ware, 15 minutes
on hold, and 23 seconds into the explanation of my problem, the tech
said "it sounds like you have Seagate SATA drives. You need to contact
Seagate for an upgrade." Moral: don't waste your time with 3-Ware's web
support. (2 weeks without a solution.) Phone them instead.
