A few minutes later again I discovered that I'd lost all my accelerated
video settings. Easily working != working well. This is why I back up
files before letting some automated process mess with them. So I merged
the monitor settings from the new xorg.conf with the correct driver
settings from the old one, and now I think all is well again.
