Funny situation similar to yours. I just rebuilt by desktop and MythTV
box (this time with a motherboard and CPU that aren't koo-koo for coco
puffs). My new desktop machine's motherboard is "complex" and has AGP
at 03:00:00 instead of 01:00:00. Rather than go, "ahh, same ... just
different AGP slot), the system went and backed up my old config, and
then made up a random one running at 1280x1024 (which looked terrible on
a monitor designed for much higher).
I simply deleted the new one, copied the backup to the old name, and
edited the port reference. Xorg restarted, and all was well again.
