As far as I know there is no really weird hardware. The mobo is an Asus
MN2-E with 5 SATA ports and 1 IDE port. The cpu is an AMD Athlon 64 X2
3800 Dual Core (hence the interest in smp). There is also an ultra high
end Nvidia video card (forget the exact model).
After some fiddling about today I did manage to get smp and booting from
sata to coexist. The secret is to read the documentation
(linux/Documentation/smt.txt .. doh!). One day I'll learn my lesson.
