Just out of curiosity, what are the BIOS's in each? I wonder if it might be
something to do with that (eg Award vs AMI) or possibly motherboard vendor
such as Asus vs PC Chips?
My observation is OpenBSD relies more on the BIOS early on than Linux during
the boot sequence. I would think once you're into the install you'd be
running a decent kernel but it's possible the kernel on the installation
disc is dumbed down. Just a guess.
