Oh and you can always remove the printer from the list of installed
printers and try re-adding it to see if that fixes things. Dapper says
the 3550 uses the standard HP driver (hpijs) so it should work ^_-;
If you're still using Breezy and you want to upgrade, be sure to use
the Update Manager to do it.

that I would point out that for my HP PSC-1210 I can print out *four*
different test pages. One from Ubuntu's printer settings, another from
foomatic-gui, a third from the HPLIP Toolbox and a fourth from the
CUPS web interface (which you can get to via the HPLIP Toolbox). This
is perhaps a bit excessive, but with them all working I'm fairly
confident that I can print when I need to ;)" Because you use a HP
printer you should be able to get the four test pages too :)
