You can get GSM phones unlocked, too. I had this done with my phones. It
isn't terribly expensive. There is no advantage to doing this with CDMA
phones because of how they work. (Few carriers will let you activate a
foreign CDMA phone, but GSM phones can't be stopped if they are unlocked.)
