Did the Nautilus thing; many files appeared, but not .sane. 8-(
Same result from a (root) terminal after cd to ~ and 'ls -a'.
The GUI utility 'Places/Search for Files' has an option to show hidden
files, I discovered. According to it, nowhere in the filesystem is there
a file named ".sane". Peh.
