No, but the clue as to where XSane might be expected to have written

From the description displayed by Synaptic that's the impression I got
of ubuntu-desktop's function. However, I was unsure whether or not
removing it might lead off into a dependency hell I couldn't get out of
short of a total system re-install. Thanks for the reassurance.
