Oh, I've re-attached it to my W2K box and, after the usual Windows
remove/re-install waltz, it immediately worked (again -- it had quit
working after I did the 10 most recent Windows updates).
Now I'm just trying to learn what would have to happen to get it working
again with XSane, which offers controls (like "turn off lamp") that HP's
own Windows s/w fails to provide. Excellent program, XSane; too bad it
dies so horribly when one uses the "Cancel" function in mid-scan. 8-(
