Re: OT: Cellular telephone service

Oh, I'm not arguing that the pricing for sasktel's service can be a
bit more exepnsive. It's not usually a huge variance. Sasktel's data
plans have been re-worked a half dozen times in the past two years,
and still aren't competetive - at all. Most off-peak local plans will
be neck and neck, most moderate 'travel' plans (moderate LD, not a lot
of local - or if it's local it's from a remote city to the same place)
will end up about the same too.

It's the very high use plans that leaves Sasktel in Rogers dust again
- which judging from your monthly bill Scott I'd assume you're in.

My beef is with the whole 'sasktel was not-as-good-as X years ago, so
that must be true now'. It really is a good idea to to a fair and
valid comparison with current numbers rather than using old data -
even if it means Sasktel/Rogers are almost dead equal (or in Rogers
favor in some cases).

Oh - and the people calling you for renewal are sasktel's outbound
sales department, which means they're not as knowledgeable on cellular
as actual Mobility staff. You might want to take the Rogers figures
and call in to the Mobility que and do a direct comparison with one of
those reps. You're much more likely to get an educated and accurate
response - even if it's them telling you that no, there no data plan
cheaper than $25 a month. If you end up terminating with Sasktel to
go to Rogers due to pricing / plan differences, make sure that they're
fully aware of why you're changing. (Marketing needs to be bludgeoned
by customer feedback that there's a problem, otherwise it won't change
- in regards to data plans/contracts).
