The one person I know who's tried it says that N.American tribands work
very ineffectively in Europe. Apparently you need both European
frequencies for continuity of coverage in a lot of places.

Very easy in Britain (5 or 6 service providers all offering cheap
genuine pay as you go plans; and all work throughout mainland Europe).
Very easy in Mongolia. Apparently very easy in China (stalls at Beijing
airport). Don't know about anywhere else.
