Linode ( http://www.linode.com ) is still working very well for me, but
I have also signed up for a really cheap VPS as my secondary DNS.
VPSlink isn't nearly as nice, but for $60/yr for a 64MB RAM VPS it was
worth a try. (Price is with the 25% off coupon that is still listed on
their front page, but is now expired.) http://www.vpslink.com/

I also mentioned that NTFS-3G is working well on my laptop for accessing
a NTFS formatted external drive. The Ubuntu instructions are here:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ntfs-3g I'm sure you can google for info on
other distros. It uses FUSE, so you will also need that in your kernel
and the surrounding userspace tools.

The long distance (VOIP, of course) provider I was talking about is
http://www.voipjet.com/ Please note: they are a wholesaler only. (that
is, they don't submit the required taxes to the canadian govt for calls
originating and ending in Canada. that is your own responsibility.)

The Vestas V100 wind turbine specs can be found here:
http://www.vestas.com/uk/products/v100/v100_UK.asp

and the Auchtermuchty Landscape and Environment group has an, apparently
real, photo of a turbine behind a residential area on this site:
http://www.auchtermuchtyle.org/ I think the stories of burning turbines
and turbines flinging ice chunks can be found on links from this page.

The U of T comparison of Wind vs. Nuclear is here:
http://www.cns-snc.ca/branches/Toronto/energy/wind_vs_nuclear.doc

So, the question remains, can a Linux box be successfully run using
windpower only. (There, is it on topic now?)

Oh, and the beer ad is here:
