You want a forgotten machine? I just noticed the uptime on one machine
(running 2.6.3, of all things):

 15:06:45 up 571 days, 5:47, 1 user, load average: 0.05, 0.08, 0.02

This isn't an idle box; it's serving up a web application to hundreds of
users a day. I don't think Linux has a stability problem :-).
