RE: P100 computer for sale

Yeah I was looking at other similar machines for sale, and it seems like
my price is out of whack with the market. These old computers are a
STEAL !! I may still sell the thing as a whole and try to get $70 for
it... It's not my money anyway... I'd buy it myself, but I already
have a P166 for a firewall box. Maybe I'll see if I can find a friend
that needs a machine like this -- I'd rather sell it to a friend if I
can only get $50. I really think the market is on crack though if the
whole machine (with a fresh Debian installation on it, configured for
firewalling/NAT) is worth less than the sum of the parts. Oh well. To
anyone who's interested in the thing: I'll consider any offers >= $70.
I'll also start asking friends if they have need of a machine like this.

Anyway thanks for the advice -- I may just end up selling the parts
separately in the end, which is what the brain-dead market is asking me
to do.

That's the unfortunate thing about those old machines, they're worth
less
than the sum of their parts. Your way better off canabalizing it and
selling
the parts individually. As a single machine I really think you'll be
really
lucky to get $50 for a P100 unless the board will take a faster chip
(will
it?) even then it's a hard sell.

$15-$20 - medium tower
$5 - Intel Pentium 100 processor
$50 - 64 MB 60ns EDO (or FPM?) memory
$10 - ATI mach64 video card
$15 - 1.7 GB hard drive
$5 - 1.44 MB floppy drive
$20 - CD-ROM drive (not sure how fast -- maybe 8x or 12x?)
$10 - PCI NE2000 network card
