I use xemacs - http://www.xemacs.org. It uses a ton of disk space and
memory, but I don't care: disk space is dirt cheap, and I have 256 mb of
RAM. I've tried other editors, but there is always a feature or two
missing that I've come to depend on with xemacs. When in text mode, or
when I just want to make a quick modification to a config file, I use 'vi'
though I really should use 'joe' for that sort of thing since it is more
friendly for someone accustomed to emacs. Generally though, I fire up
xemacs, open 2 or more frames, and just leave it running all day long
while I am working on software.

Note: I do not want to start, and I will not participate in a religious
war over what text editor is best. If your favourite text editor is
meeting your needs, then cool! All I'll say is, if you want to try a very
bloated text editor with everything you could possibly want, and a million
things you don't want, xemacs is the ticket! :-)
