Actually, do yourself a favor, and just go back to the VESA card. All Vesa
cards come with the UART on a ASIC. It might report itself to the computer (and
thus the OS) that it is a 16450, but in reality, it is a 16550 (or better). You
will get the same speeds, you will not notice the difference from the 8-bit
card, and you won't want to go postal on the coputer.
BTW, what is the baran names of the two cards in question, I might be able to
get the settings for you.
