If you look at the rlogin/rcp man page(s), you need to have one of
several things:
- a .rhosts file in your local directory that has "host username"
pairs to allow access
- a line in the /etc/hosts.equiv or /etc/hosts.allow file(s) for the
hosts in question.

I suspect that you have an entry in your .rhosts on your linux box for
the labe computer, but not vice versa.
