I've been using the MGE 'dumb' UPSes (dry contacts only, not RS-232) EL4
and EL7 for a couple of years now. They work great, but you have to build
your own cable. (not too hard really) I recently started using one of
their smart UPSes (ES5+) with an opensource reverse-engineer of their
protocol. It too works good. They won't tell you their protocol,
though... I had a heated chat with them on the phone after they replaced
my EL4 with an ES5+ and there was no open source reverse-engineered daemon
yet.
